Window & Door Contractor Behind Window Man

Hi, I’m Andrew, the contractor behind Window Man.

I’ve been installing windows and doors since 2001. After more than 20 years in this trade, I’ve seen almost every type of opening, old frame, uneven wall, draft problem, damaged sill, oversized entry, and “simple replacement” that turned out not to be simple at all.

That is why I try to keep my advice practical. When I write or review content for this website, I’m writing from real installation experience, real homes, and real conversations with homeowners who want to understand what they’re buying before they commit.

What I Do

I help homeowners choose, replace, and install exterior doors and windows.

Most of my work is focused on:

  • Front door replacement
  • Exterior steel and fiberglass doors
  • Single doors, double doors, sidelights, and transoms
  • Custom entry door systems
  • Vinyl window replacement
  • Retrofit and full-frame window installation
  • Energy-efficient window and door upgrades
  • Supply-only custom doors for customers outside our installation area

Some projects are straightforward. Others involve changing the whole look of the entrance, converting a single door into a double door, removing sidelights, adding privacy glass, matching colors, or solving old draft and sealing problems.

My job is to help homeowners understand what is realistic, what is worth paying for, and what may look good in a photo but cause problems in real life.

Why I Write About Windows and Doors

A lot of homeowners start their project with the same questions:

  • How much should a front door cost?
  • Is fiberglass better than steel?
  • Should I keep my sidelights or replace them?
  • Do black windows make sense for my home?
  • What is the difference between retrofit and full-frame window replacement?
  • Why do some doors cost much more than others?

These are fair questions. Doors and windows are not small purchases, and most people do not replace them often enough to know the details.

I want the articles on this website to explain things in normal language, without making every product sound perfect. Sometimes the cheaper option is enough. Sometimes paying more actually makes sense. Sometimes a design looks beautiful but is not the most practical choice for daily use.

My goal is to give you the kind of advice I would give during a real conversation before preparing a quote.

My Approach

I believe a good window or door project starts before installation day.

It starts with understanding the opening, the house, the style, the budget, and what the homeowner is actually trying to achieve. Some people want better insulation. Some want a more modern entrance. Some want more glass and natural light. Others want privacy, security, or simply a cleaner look from the street.

I’m happy to discuss those details by phone, text, or email. You can send approximate window sizes, photos of your existing door, or examples of styles you like. From there, I can usually help narrow down the right direction before we get into final measurements and production details.

I try to be clear about what is included, what may affect the price, and what decisions matter most.

What Makes Window Man Different

Window Man is not built around selling the most expensive option every time.

The focus is on practical recommendations, clean installation, and helping homeowners make decisions they feel comfortable with. A door or window should look good, but it also has to seal properly, fit the house, open and close smoothly, and make sense for the way the home is used every day.

Over the years, I’ve learned that small details matter: frame size, jamb depth, threshold, casing, glass choice, hinge side, color, hardware, and how the new unit connects to the existing opening. These details are not always exciting, but they are often what separate a good installation from a frustrating one.

Areas I Serve

Most installation work is handled in Toronto, the GTA, and surrounding Ontario areas, including North York, Durham, Ajax, Pickering, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Barrie, Oshawa, Whitby, Georgetown, Milton, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, London, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, and nearby communities.

For homeowners outside our local service area, we can also manufacture, finish, crate, and ship custom doors nationwide. That means your front door project can still start with Window Man, even if you are not close enough for local installation.

How to Start

The easiest way to start is simple.

For windows, send the approximate size and a few photos if possible.

For doors, send a picture of your current door from outside and inside, plus any design you like. If you are not sure what style you want yet, you can browse the exterior door options first and send examples that feel close.

From there, I can help explain the options, what may work for your opening, and what kind of budget makes sense before you move forward.
