Sometimes the goal isn’t to change everything — it’s simply to make better use of the space that’s already there.
This home originally had a single door with sidelights, which provided width and light but divided the opening into separate sections.
We reconfigured the entry into narrow black shaker-style double doors with frosted glass to better suit the proportions of the existing space.
In my personal experience, a double door is more shaky and a bit more drafty. It’s got pins in the passive door, and they always have a bit of play. A single door with sidelights? Way sturdier. I wouldn’t install a double door for myself.
The frosted glass allows natural light in while adding privacy, and the black finish gives the facade a clean, modern contrast without feeling too bold.
The result is a front entry that feels more unified and intentional — wider in function, but still simple and appropriate for the home.
